China Halts Boeing Orders Amid US Trade Tensions

In a significant development amid escalating trade tensions with the United States, China has reportedly instructed its domestic airlines to cease acquiring Boeing aircraft. According to a report from Bloomberg, the Chinese government has also urged airlines to refrain from purchasing airplane parts and equipment from American companies.

The Trump administration raised tariffs on imports from China to an unprecedented 145%, prompting China to respond with its own tariffs on American goods, reaching as high as 125%.

The three largest airlines in China--Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and China Southern Airlines--had plans to take delivery of several Boeing aircraft between 2025 and 2027.
