Students from the third-grade classes of Wolfsbach Primary School participated in an educational visit to the local municipal office. The initiative was designed to introduce the children to the inner workings of local government and the various responsibilities undertaken by municipal staff.
During the visit, the children toured the municipal offices, where they received comprehensive information about the organization and daily functions of the local administration. Staff members provided insights into the roles of municipal employees, explaining the diverse range of tasks required for the smooth operation of community services, including administrative duties, maintenance, and public works.
A highlight of the tour was the opportunity for the students to meet the mayor, who described the duties and challenges associated with leading the municipality. The children learned about the processes involved in municipal decision-making, as well as the importance of collaboration between different departments and the town council.
The group was also given access to the local works yard, commonly referred to as the Bauhof, where they observed firsthand the equipment and resources used to maintain public spaces and infrastructure. Staff members demonstrated some of the practical work performed by the team, from road maintenance to landscape care, emphasizing the significance of these roles in ensuring the well-being and functionality of the community.
To conclude their visit, the students gathered in the council assembly room for an interactive activity designed to reinforce what they had learned during the day. This engaging session encouraged the children to reflect on their experience and apply their new knowledge about municipal operations and governance.
As a commemorative gesture, each participant received a special coin symbolizing the town's official recognition as a market community in 2003. The memento served both as a keepsake and a reminder of the importance of civic engagement from an early age.
The visit offered the students a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of local government functions, fostering greater awareness of community roles and inspiring future interest in civic responsibilities.
