Over 11,000 Young People Participate in Truck Workshops

Approximately 90% of food items are transported via trucks, highlighting the crucial role of heavy goods vehicles in our supply chain. To raise awareness among children and adolescents about the importance of trucks, the Chamber of Commerce's Freight Transport Division initiated a unique program nearly a decade ago. This initiative involves conducting workshops at primary and, since 2019, secondary schools, aimed at educating young individuals about trucks and enhancing road safety.

So far, the program has successfully reached around 11,000 students, providing them with valuable insights into the transportation industry. The workshops not only cover the operational aspects of trucks but also stress the significance of safety measures on the roads. These educational sessions are designed to foster a better understanding of how integral trucking is to everyday life, particularly in the distribution of essential goods.

Through interactive lessons and hands-on experiences, students learn about the mechanics of trucks, the logistics involved in transporting goods, and the critical safety protocols that drivers must follow. The initiative aims to inspire a new generation to consider careers in the logistics and transport sectors, which are vital for economic stability and growth.

The workshops are structured to be engaging and informative, combining theoretical knowledge with practical demonstrations. Participants have the opportunity to interact with industry professionals, who share their experiences and insights, further enriching the learning experience. This exposure not only educates students about the industry but also empowers them to make informed decisions regarding future career paths.

As the program continues to expand, the Freight Transport Division remains committed to its mission of promoting road safety and understanding among the youth. By emphasizing the importance of trucks in our daily lives, they hope to cultivate a sense of responsibility and awareness that extends beyond the classroom.
