Sat 24th May, 2025

Last Friday morning, shortly after the mid-morning break, a realistic emergency exercise conducted by the Voluntary Fire Brigade of St. Georgen/Klaus took place at Konradsheim Elementary School. The scenario simulated a small fire in the school's kitchen area, which resulted in significant smoke development throughout the building. Consequently, the entire school had to be evacuated.

The drill aimed to educate students about fire safety and emergency response protocols. Firefighters demonstrated the proper techniques for safe evacuation and provided insights into their firefighting equipment and procedures. This hands-on experience not only informed the students about what to do in case of an actual emergency but also sparked their interest in fire safety.

As the firefighters arrived on the scene, they were met with excitement and curiosity from the students. Many were eager to learn about the responsibilities of firefighters and the importance of remaining calm during emergencies. The event was designed to foster an understanding of the role of emergency services in the community and to encourage proactive safety measures among the young audience.

The exercise concluded with a Q&A session where students had the opportunity to ask the firefighters questions about their work and the equipment they use. This engagement helped demystify the firefighting profession and highlighted the critical role that firefighters play in ensuring public safety.

Overall, the drill received positive feedback from both the staff at Konradsheim Elementary and the local fire brigade. It served as an effective reminder of the importance of preparedness and community cooperation in emergency situations.
