A significant drone attack by Russian forces targeted multiple districts of Kharkiv, a major city in Ukraine, resulting in nearly 50 reported injuries, according to local authorities. Among the injured is an eleven-year-old child, as stated by regional military administrator Oleh Synjehubow and Mayor Ihor Terechow via a social media update late Friday evening. The attack led to fires at various locations, damaging residential buildings, civilian infrastructure, and vehicles.
Reports indicate that twelve sites across four districts of the city were hit during the assault. Initial assessments have not yet been independently verified. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed outrage over the attacks, emphasizing that there were no military targets involved. He condemned the strikes as attacks on residential areas, particularly during times when families are at home, highlighting the tragic impact on civilians, especially children.
Widespread air alerts were triggered in several regions of Ukraine, including the capital, Kyiv. In Kupjansk, one individual was killed due to Russian airstrikes that demolished several residential buildings. Reports from investigative authorities revealed that the body of a man was recovered from the rubble of one destroyed house, with concerns that another victim may still be trapped beneath the debris.
Additional airstrikes were reported in Sumy, where two people sustained injuries from the impact of two guided bombs. The situation remains tense as military actions continue to escalate across various fronts in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged from the Krasnodar region in Russia, where regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev announced Ukrainian drone attacks on the Black Sea coast, specifically targeting the port city of Novorossiysk. Preliminary assessments indicate that three residential blocks suffered damage, with four individuals--including two adults and two children--reportedly injured.
