Ulysse Nardin, a renowned name in the world of horology, has once again demonstrated its commitment to innovation and excellence with the introduction of a groundbreaking diving watch. The brand, rooted in a rich history of producing high-quality timepieces since 1846, has made significant strides in the dive watch segment over the years.
In 1893, Ulysse Nardin launched its first waterproof instrument, a pioneering achievement that laid the foundation for its legacy in creating robust and reliable diving watches. In 2001, the company astonished the watch community with the Aqua Perpetual, which was recognized as the world's first diver's watch with an eternal calendar, capable of withstanding depths of up to 200 meters.
The release of the Diver X Skeleton in 2021 showcased a remarkable combination of skeletonized design and functional diving capabilities. Now, the brand has unveiled its latest marvel: the Diver [AIR], which has set a new standard by being the lightest mechanical diving watch ever created, weighing in at just 52 grams, including the strap.
This innovative watch features the newly developed UN-374 movement, which is an evolution of the previous UN-372 caliber. An impressive engineering feat allows only 20% of the 44mm case to be occupied by the movement, while the remaining 80% consists of air, resulting in a remarkable reduction in weight without compromising structural integrity. Notably, the Diver [AIR] can withstand shocks of up to 5000 G.
In addition to its lightweight design, the watch boasts a mainspring that weighs just 7 grams, yet offers an impressive power reserve of 90 hours, ensuring reliability in various conditions.
Beyond its technical prowess, the Diver [AIR] also emphasizes Ulysse Nardin's commitment to sustainability. The titanium used for both the movement and inner case is comprised of 90% recycled material. Furthermore, the case sides are constructed from Nylo-Foil, a composite made from recycled fishing nets and carbon fibers, reflecting a conscious effort to reduce environmental impact.
To enhance its usability, the Diver [AIR] comes equipped with two ultra-lightweight Velcro straps, which can be easily swapped out without the need for tools, and are available in vibrant orange and classic white.
