NEOS Criticizes Kickl for Fostering Division Over Solutions

Sat 27th Sep, 2025

In a recent statement, NEOS has expressed strong criticism towards Herbert Kickl, the leader of the Freedom Party (FPÖ), accusing him of promoting division rather than offering constructive solutions to the challenges facing Austria. NEOS highlighted the pressing issues the country faces, including rising costs, security concerns, and the need to maintain prosperity.

NEOS General Secretary pointed out that instead of addressing these urgent matters, Kickl opts for divisive rhetoric and populism. The criticism emphasizes that true leadership requires presenting innovative ideas for the future rather than instilling fear through inflammatory statements. The statement also noted that when an opportunity arose for Kickl to take on governmental responsibility, he prioritized personal ambitions and vendettas over national interests.

Hoyos reiterated that the citizens of Austria are seeking clear answers from their political leaders on critical issues, such as how to secure the nation's economic position, combat inflation, and enhance education and innovation. Instead, the NEOS spokesperson accused Kickl of evading these important questions and diverting attention with controversial remarks. He alleged that Kickl collaborates with those who favor a fragmented and weak Europe, contrasting this approach with the need for a united front against global threats.

Hoyos further articulated that Austria requires a rational and responsible political approach, which he believes Kickl fundamentally opposes. He argued that true patriotism involves candid discussions about essential matters, such as reducing dependency on Russian gas, bolstering national defense in collaboration with European allies, and safeguarding citizens against modern threats.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, NEOS calls for a shift towards a more constructive dialogue that prioritizes solutions over division.
