Motorcyclist Apprehended in Lichtenwörth After High-Speed Police Pursuit

A 23-year-old motorcyclist was apprehended by authorities in Lichtenwörth, located in the Wiener Neustadt district, following a high-speed chase involving multiple police units. Law enforcement officials from the Lower Austria Provincial Police Command reported that investigations are ongoing to identify a second motorcyclist who evaded capture during the incident.

According to police accounts, two motorcyclists were observed engaging in dangerous driving behavior that posed significant risks to other road users. These actions included narrowly avoiding collisions and creating hazardous situations for both motorists and pedestrians. The pursuit began after the riders separated at the Wiener Neustadt Ost exit, with one fleeing in the direction of Neudörfl.

Officers from the Traffic Inspection Unit of the Wiener Neustadt City Police Command initiated the pursuit, which was soon supported by units from Eggendorf in the same district. During the chase, law enforcement observed the fleeing rider entering a residential 30 km/h speed zone in Lichtenwörth at speeds exceeding 140 km/h. This reckless maneuver resulted in further endangerment, as the motorcyclist executed risky overtaking moves and endangered pedestrians present on sidewalks.

The pursuit continued until the suspect abandoned the motorcycle and attempted to evade capture by hiding in a nearby cornfield. Police were able to locate and apprehend the individual without further incident. Following his arrest, the 23-year-old, a resident of the Neunkirchen district, had his driver's license provisionally revoked. In addition, the motorcycle was temporarily confiscated by authorities as part of the investigation.

Law enforcement officials indicated that the suspect will face charges of willful public endangerment and coercion, with the case being referred to the public prosecutor's office in Wiener Neustadt. Furthermore, the individual will be reported to the appropriate district administration for numerous administrative offenses related to traffic violations committed during the incident.

Efforts are ongoing to identify and locate the second motorcyclist involved.
