Young Woman Arrested Following Stabbing Incident at Vienna's Danube Canal

A 20-year-old Austrian woman has been taken into custody after a stabbing incident along the Danube Canal in Vienna.

According to authorities, the young woman admitted during questioning that a confrontation occurred on the walkway with a 33-year-old female. While she described the altercation as involving pushing and shoving, she denied any involvement in the stabbing itself. The suspect was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The victim sustained stab wounds to her shoulder but has since been discharged from the hospital, as confirmed by a police spokesperson in a statement to the Austrian Press Agency (APA).

The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement agencies continue to gather evidence and statements from witnesses. The incident has raised concerns about safety in popular public areas, prompting discussions about the need for increased security measures.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information regarding the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
