World War II Bombs Disarmed in Gartz Amid Ongoing Discoveries

In a significant operation, multiple World War II ordnance items have been successfully disarmed along the railway line between Passow and Szczecin. This announcement was made by a spokesperson for the municipality of Gartz, located in the Uckermark district.

During a systematic search aimed at locating military remnants, six bombs from the Second World War were uncovered. On Tuesday, authorities managed to disarm a portion of these explosives, ensuring they could be safely transported. Others were detonated on-site to mitigate any further risks.

The spokesperson highlighted that additional military munitions were already discovered during the search, necessitating further action. Scheduled for Thursday, the disarming and detonation of more Russian aerial bombs is planned. Before this can occur, however, the explosives must be excavated from deeper soil layers.

This operation coincides with ongoing infrastructure developments, as the rail line between Berlin and Szczecin is set to undergo a dual-track expansion. Additionally, photovoltaic systems are planned to be installed along the route, prompting preliminary site assessments to ensure safety.
