Woman Assaults Stranger with Knife at Vienna Central Station

A 30-year-old woman was arrested on Friday afternoon after allegedly attacking an unknown man with a knife at Vienna's Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) in Favoriten. The incident reportedly began when the woman, who was shopping with her mother, bumped into a passerby, which escalated into a confrontation.

Witnesses stated that the woman verbally abused and spat at the man before drawing a knife from her boot and threatening to kill him. Security personnel at the station intervened, separating the two and confiscating the weapon. Authorities from the Favoriten precinct subsequently detained the woman, while the 55-year-old victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Both the woman and her mother contested the eyewitness accounts, asserting that the man was the aggressor. They claimed that the knife was sheathed at the time of the incident. The woman now faces charges of making threats, bodily harm, and attempted serious bodily injury.

In a separate incident later the same day, a train conductor at Wien Mitte station sought refuge in the driver's cabin after being pursued by a man wielding a Stanley knife. The conductor reported to police that he had asked the passenger to leave the train due to his refusal to present identification, despite having a valid ticket. In response, the 39-year-old Turkish national brandished the knife and threatened to stab the conductor, prompting the staff member to retreat. The police apprehended the suspect, who angrily discarded the knife when ordered to empty his pockets. He is now facing charges of making threats, along with a temporary weapons ban.
