In a significant development during the recent meeting of the federal board of the Young People's Party (Junge Volkspartei), Toni Grünsteidl has been appointed as the new Deputy Secretary-General. The 24-year-old from Gablitz, located in St. Pölten-Land, is set to transition into this role starting May 15, 2025, where he will join the team of Claudia Plakolm, the party's Federal Chairwoman and Minister for Europe, Integration, and Family.
Grünsteidl, who currently serves as the State Manager for the Young People's Party in Lower Austria, has demonstrated his organizational skills and commitment to the party through his past work. Plakolm expressed her enthusiasm about Grünsteidl's appointment, highlighting his proactive approach and dedication as assets to the national team. She noted that his experience in Lower Austria will be invaluable as the party continues to address the needs and concerns of young people in Austria.
The Young People's Party, boasting over 100,000 members, is recognized as Austria's largest political youth network. Throughout its nearly 80 years of history, the party has advocated for significant issues, such as lowering the voting age to 16 and opposing nuclear power. The organization remains committed to addressing youth-related concerns at all political levels, from local events to the national parliament.
Grünsteidl emphasized the importance of the party as a platform for shaping the future of Austria, noting the successful implementation of more than 20 demands from the Young People's Party during the previous legislative period under Plakolm's leadership.
