A young man caused a significant incident in Vienna's Ottakring district on Thursday morning when he drove his vehicle into an outdoor café, resulting in property damage and alarming confrontations.

The 22-year-old driver not only crashed into the café's structure but also damaged several parked cars in the vicinity. Upon being confronted by a waitress about the crash, he escalated the situation by brandishing a knife and threatening her before leaving the scene.

According to police reports, the crash occurred around 7:00 AM. Following the collision, the driver calmly walked away from the scene and headed to a nearby vending machine to purchase a drink. This nonchalant behavior raised further concerns among witnesses and authorities.

When the police arrived, the young man had returned, where officers were already waiting for him. Despite extensive searches, no knife was found on his person. Investigators followed the route the driver took after the incident and discovered illegal substances, presumably cocaine, hidden among the vending machines. It remains unclear if the drugs belonged to him, and inquiries are ongoing.

Additionally, it was revealed that the suspect did not possess a valid driver's license and was subject to an existing restraining order prohibiting him from carrying weapons. He was subsequently taken into custody. The authorities have filed multiple traffic-related charges against him, along with accusations of making threats and violations of weapon and drug laws as mandated by the Vienna Public Prosecutor's Office.

The situation has sparked widespread concern regarding safety in public spaces and the implications of reckless behavior on community welfare. The local authorities continue to investigate this incident further, focusing on the full circumstances surrounding the driver and the events that unfolded.
