Students from the Polytechnical School (PTS) in Stockerau recently had the unique opportunity to visit a place typically shunned by the public: the Forensic Therapeutic Center (FTZ) in Göllersdorf. This excursion, held last Friday, aimed to provide students with a firsthand understanding of the realities associated with violent behavior and the importance of violence prevention.

During the visit, students were introduced to various aspects of the facility, which serves a critical role in rehabilitating individuals with complex psychological issues. The experience was designed to illustrate the long-term consequences of violence and criminal behavior, allowing students to grasp the seriousness of these issues in a tangible way.

According to the administration, the intent behind such visits is to foster awareness among young students about the implications of violent actions and the legal ramifications that follow. The deputy director emphasized the necessity of making these concepts relatable and understandable, as merely discussing laws and regulations often fails to resonate with youths.

The excursion included guided tours of different sections of the facility, where students could observe the environment and learn about the rehabilitation process. They gained insights into how the facility operates and the various programs it offers to help individuals reintegrate into society.

Educators believe that exposing students to real-life situations, especially those involving the consequences of crime, can significantly contribute to their understanding of societal issues. This experience was not only educational but also aimed at encouraging students to think critically about the choices they make and the potential outcomes of those choices.

As society grapples with rising concerns regarding youth violence and delinquency, initiatives such as this one play a vital role in prevention efforts. By engaging students in discussions around violence and its consequences, schools can help cultivate a more informed and responsible generation.
