Police Response to Job Application Incident at ORF Center

Sat 29th Mar, 2025

A peculiar incident unfolded at the ORF Center in Vienna on Saturday morning, prompting a police response. An elderly individual, dressed in purple trousers, silently deposited a letter into the reception area at the entrance of the ORF facility located in Hietzing. The attentive staff member, recalling a recent bomb threat, promptly notified law enforcement.

Upon their arrival, police personnel, trained in explosives detection, discovered that the contents of the letter were merely a job application, contrary to the concerns that had arisen. By the time authorities arrived on the scene, the man had already left, and initial searches yielded no further leads.

The receptionist's caution was warranted, as just days earlier, a 53-year-old man had threatened to detonate a bomb while obstructing access to the ORF Center with a small truck. This alarming situation led to a significant police operation, including the closure of surrounding areas. Fortunately, no explosives were found, and the suspect was subsequently arrested. He is currently in custody at the Josefstadt prison while awaiting further investigation.
