Oberndorf's Unique Charity Initiative Turns Beer Caps into Hope

A remarkable charity initiative has emerged from Oberndorf, led by local resident Gerhard Hahn. Over the span of six years, Hahn, alongside numerous dedicated volunteers, has collected an astounding total of 3,157,894 beer caps, which collectively weigh an impressive 5,960 kilograms. This unique recycling venture aimed not only to promote environmental sustainability but also to contribute to a charitable cause.

In a significant collaboration, Hahn partnered with the AWÖ company, which generously provided logistical support by transporting the vast quantity of beer caps to Schaufler Recycling in Ybbs. The sheer volume of collected caps amounted to approximately 23 cubic meters, demonstrating the community's commitment to both environmental stewardship and charitable giving.
