Mon 14th Apr, 2025

In a significant development for environmental management, the community association for environmental protection and tax collection in St. Pölten-Land is establishing a new recycling center in Markersdorf-Haindorf. Spanning an area of 9,000 square meters, construction of the facility commenced in August 2024 and is anticipated to be completed within the year.

The recycling center is being constructed using sustainable materials, primarily wood and concrete, emphasizing eco-friendliness in its design. The facility will feature a green roof, designed to be covered with brick gravel and vegetation, which will support the installation of a photovoltaic system for solar energy generation. Moreover, a wildflower meadow will be incorporated into the landscaping to promote biodiversity and contribute positively to the local ecosystem.

This initiative reflects a growing commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship in the region. The new center will serve as a crucial hub for the collection and processing of recyclable materials, thereby enhancing waste management efforts and promoting responsible disposal practices among residents.

As communities increasingly recognize the importance of recycling and waste reduction, the Markersdorf recycling center aims to provide residents with a convenient and efficient means to dispose of their recyclable waste. The facility is expected to facilitate better sorting and processing of materials, ultimately contributing to regional sustainability goals.
