Munkfors Community Recognizes Cultural Contributors for Enriching Local Life

The municipality of Munkfors has formally recognized two prominent figures for their enduring contributions to the region's cultural life. Pelle Schunnesson, long-time leader of Ransätersstämman, and actor Peter Stefanson, widely known for his performances in the traditional play Värmlänningarna, have been jointly honored for their dedication to music, theater, storytelling, and fostering community spirit.

This year, the municipality awarded both individuals the Bo Englund Scholarship, an annual recognition intended to highlight significant efforts that enhance the local cultural landscape. Schunnesson and Stefanson will share the monetary award of SEK 10,000, and each will receive a sculpture created by the scholarship's namesake, Bo Englund.

Pelle Schunnesson has been closely connected to Ransätersstämman, a renowned folk music festival, serving as its chairperson for nearly three decades before stepping down recently. His leadership is credited with expanding the festival's reach and maintaining its position as a central meeting point for musicians and audiences from across the region.

Peter Stefanson has gained recognition as an actor, particularly for his involvement in the annual staging of Värmlänningarna in Ransäter. His performances have contributed to preserving and revitalizing local theatrical traditions, drawing audiences and fostering appreciation for the area's cultural heritage.

The selection committee emphasized that both laureates have positively influenced the municipality by creating spaces for artistic expression, intergenerational interaction, and cultural identity.
