Students from the HAK and HAS schools in Mistelbach have demonstrated their commitment to community engagement through a recent fundraising initiative. The second and third-year religious studies groups organized a charity project aimed at supporting local youth services. Their efforts culminated in a successful fundraising event that brought together the school community for a worthy cause.
As part of the project, the students prepared and sold waffles during a school-wide event. The sale attracted considerable participation from both students and staff, allowing the organizers to collect a total of EUR500. This initiative was met with enthusiasm throughout the school, highlighting the spirit of cooperation and social responsibility among the young participants.
Once the funds were raised, representatives from both classes, accompanied by their teachers, formally presented the donation to the parish priest. The handover took place at the parish, with the priest expressing appreciation for the students' active involvement in supporting local youth programs. The donation is earmarked specifically for the parish's youth center, where it will be used to enhance existing services and develop new opportunities for young people in the Mistelbach area.
The youth center, operated by the parish, serves as a dedicated space for teenagers and young adults to gather, participate in activities, and access support. The additional funding is expected to contribute to the improvement of facilities and the expansion of program offerings, thereby fostering a positive environment for the local youth community. School officials have commended the initiative, noting the importance of encouraging students to take part in charitable activities that benefit others.
This project reflects ongoing efforts within the Mistelbach educational community to promote values such as empathy, cooperation, and civic engagement. By organizing and participating in the fundraising event, students gained valuable experience in project management, teamwork, and social responsibility. The success of the initiative underscores the positive impact that youth-led projects can have on both the participants and the wider community.
The collaboration between the school and the parish underscores the value of partnerships in addressing local needs and supporting younger generations. The parish plans to use the donated funds to enhance the youth center's offerings, ensuring that it continues to meet the evolving interests and requirements of local adolescents.
Through their collective efforts, the HAK and HAS students have made a meaningful contribution to the Mistelbach community, setting a positive example for future initiatives. The fundraising event not only provided financial support for the youth center but also strengthened the bonds between the school, the parish, and the broader community.
