Helmut Marko, the veteran motorsport advisor for Red Bull Racing, has not disclosed his plans regarding retirement as he approaches his 82nd birthday. Speaking to Sky at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, he acknowledged the inevitable nature of aging, stating that there comes a time when one can no longer continue in such a demanding role due to the rigors of travel.

Marko expressed enthusiasm for the idea of Sebastian Vettel taking over as a motorsport advisor for Red Bull, highlighting Vettel's experience in both driving and mentoring young talents in karting. He remarked on the importance of strategic direction for a Formula 1 team, an area where he believes Vettel could excel.

Vettel, when asked about the prospect of stepping into a role at Red Bull, maintained an open stance. He confirmed ongoing communication with Marko and acknowledged the latter's unique expertise and understanding of team dynamics. Vettel noted that while he is uncertain about his future in such a position, Marko's eventual departure would be significant for the team.

Marko expressed confidence in Vettel's ability to adapt quickly to any new responsibilities, suggesting that it would take only a couple of races for him to grasp the role fully. He believes that Vettel has a clear vision for his future, primarily centered around motorsport.

Marko, a longstanding figure at Red Bull since the brand entered Formula 1 in 2005, has played a pivotal role in the team's development and success. His involvement dates back to his own racing career, which was cut short due to a serious accident. After a lengthy hiatus, he returned to the sport as a motorsport consultant, contributing to the rise of champions like Vettel and current star Max Verstappen, both of whom emerged from Red Bull's junior program.
