In an address ahead of the upcoming deliberations in the Lower Austrian Parliament regarding an action plan to combat radical Islam, the regional governor emphasized the urgent need for integration measures. The governor stated that radical Islam poses a significant threat to societal values and cohesiveness, referencing a recent violent incident as a stark reminder of this danger.

She highlighted the importance of adapting to the cultural and social norms of the host society, indicating that those who contribute positively to community integration are welcomed. However, she warned that individuals who resist these integration efforts would face serious consequences. This approach will initially target parents of children attending kindergarten, with plans to extend similar measures to the school system.

The governor called for the federal government to support these initiatives by imposing stringent penalties for families that refuse to integrate their children. The proposed fine of EUR2,500 is intended as a strong deterrent against noncompliance, underscoring the seriousness of the integration issue.

This proactive stance is part of a broader strategy in Lower Austria to ensure that the values and norms of the community are respected and upheld, fostering a more harmonious coexistence among diverse groups.
