Escaped Prisoner Found Vacationing with Family at Upper Austrian Hotel

Authorities in Upper Austria are actively searching for a 33-year-old man who escaped from custody and subsequently spent several days at a hotel with his family, evading payment before his departure. The incident took place in Aigen-Schlägl, located in the Rohrbach district, where the individual, accompanied by his spouse and infant, stayed at a local accommodation between January 12 and January 16.

According to police reports, the man had reserved the hotel room using a false identity. Staff were unaware of his true status until after he and his family vacated the premises without settling their bill. It was only upon further investigation that the hotel management and local law enforcement realized the guest was an escaped prisoner from the Ried correctional facility.

The individual had initially been granted temporary leave from the correctional institution. However, he failed to return once his authorized absence ended, prompting authorities to issue a search notice. The escapee's use of an alias allowed him to avoid immediate detection at the hotel, thereby extending his period at large. His actions have led to police intensifying their efforts to locate and apprehend him.
