Elon Musk Shifts Focus Back to Companies Following X Outage

In light of a recent two-hour outage affecting the online platform X, Elon Musk has announced his intention to devote more attention to managing his various business ventures. He emphasized the need for significant operational improvements, highlighting the challenges faced during the incident.

The outage, which occurred around 3 PM CEST, was reportedly attributed to a cyberattack. The Site Intelligence Group, a consultancy specializing in internet security, indicated that a hacker group named DieNet claimed responsibility for the disruption, categorizing the attack as a 'test' of their distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) capabilities. This method involves overwhelming a system with excessive online traffic to render the site inaccessible. However, the authenticity of DieNet's claims has not been independently verified by news agencies, including AFP, and X has not responded to requests for comment.

Musk stated that he is now working around the clock, even sleeping in conference rooms and factories, to address the challenges faced by his companies. He is the owner and leader of multiple high-profile businesses, including X, the artificial intelligence firm xAI, electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, and aerospace company SpaceX.

Since Donald Trump's return to the White House in January, Musk has played a pivotal role in advocating for a governmental efficiency department, promoting extensive budget cuts and workforce reductions within the U.S. government. However, Musk recently announced plans to scale back his involvement in these initiatives.

Despite previously investing over $235 million in Trump's campaign, Musk declared that he will no longer contribute financially to political endeavors, although he did not completely rule out supporting future projects if deemed necessary.

He stressed the importance of concentrating on X, xAI, and Tesla, particularly with the upcoming launch of SpaceX's Starship, which is scheduled for next week. Previous test flights of the Starship resulted in the explosion of its upper stage.

The outage at X was resolved around 5 PM CEST, with the platform returning to normal functionality shortly thereafter.
