Variable Weather Expected Over Easter Weekend - Cold in the North and Thunderstorms in the South

According to meteorological forecasts, the weather during the upcoming Easter weekend is expected to fluctuate significantly across Sweden. The long holiday will commence with mild conditions, transitioning to warmer periods with mist and fog, followed by the potential for rain and even snow in some regions, particularly in Svealand.

As the weekend progresses, colder air will begin to move in from the north, with temperatures likely to hover around ten degrees Celsius by Easter Monday and into the following week.

From Easter Sunday onward, weather predictions become less certain, with a possibility of rain turning to snow in parts of Svealand on the holiday itself. This uncertainty is largely due to a vast low-pressure system situated to the west of Scandinavia.

Prior to this, temperatures are expected to rise, especially on Maundy Thursday, when regions in southern Götaland, including around Jönköping, may experience highs around 20 degrees Celsius. However, as evening approaches on Good Friday, weather conditions are expected to deteriorate, with rain anticipated to move eastward across western Svealand and northern regions. The exact path of this precipitation remains uncertain.

Weather experts indicate that the rainfall may extend throughout southern Sweden, reaching the Stockholm area. There is also a chance that thunderstorms could accompany the rain.

In neighboring Denmark, meteorologists have issued warnings about the possibility of "blood rain" -- a phenomenon where rain carries sand particles from the Sahara due to jet streams. While it is conceivable that some sand may fall over southern Sweden, the incoming cold air from the north is likely to diminish this risk.
