Court Sentences 39-Year-Old from Langenrohr for Assault on Sister

A 39-year-old man from Langenrohr has been convicted of attempted assault against his sister at the St. Pölten Regional Court. The incident occurred in late December in the town of Würmla, following a heated verbal dispute regarding family matters.

During the confrontation, the accused allegedly grabbed his sister by the neck and pushed her against a car. He later claimed he only held her by the collar. Reports indicate that he shouted aggressively, expressing his intent to harm her.

The escalation prompted the sister's 14-year-old son to intervene, striking his uncle twice on the head to stop the attack and subsequently alerting the police. The children's mother, who was also present during the altercation, testified that her son appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time. She further stated that there had been previous instances of similar aggression from the accused towards his sister.

According to her testimony, the accused had previously made derogatory remarks about his sister, suggesting that she was handed everything on a silver platter. The man has a history of prior convictions for assault-related offenses.

Ultimately, the court found the 39-year-old guilty of attempted assault and sentenced him to four months in prison. However, he was acquitted of the charge of making threats. The sister's claim for damages amounting to 1,000 euros has been directed to civil court for resolution. The court's ruling is not yet final.
