A taxi driver in Vienna displayed remarkable bravery during a robbery attempt late Wednesday night in the Favoriten district. The incident occurred shortly before midnight when the driver, a 60-year-old professional chauffeur, received a fare from a man who appeared to be in his mid-twenties. After traveling to Czeikestraße, the passenger brandished a kitchen knife and demanded the driver's wallet.

Despite the threat posed by the weapon, the taxi driver refused to hand over his belongings. In retaliation, the assailant struck the driver in the face, resulting in a bloody nose. The driver, however, remained resolute and did not yield to the robber's demands. Following the assault, the perpetrator fled the scene empty-handed.

Emergency services arrived shortly after the incident, attending to the driver's injuries at the scene. He was later released to recover at home. The police have launched an investigation into the attempted robbery, with the Landeskriminalamt's southern branch taking charge of the case. The assailant is currently at large and is expected to face charges of attempted aggravated robbery.

The taxi driver described the suspect as having short dark hair, a black beard, and wearing dark clothing. Authorities are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information regarding the suspect to come forward.
