In a collaborative effort between the NÖ Straßendienst and the municipality of Günselsdorf, significant construction work is underway on Landesstraße L 154, specifically targeting the eastern entry point of the town. This initiative is aimed at enhancing traffic safety and facilitating better access for cyclists and pedestrians.
As part of the project, a new traffic island is being constructed to provide a safe crossing point for cyclists. Additionally, the nearby bus stop will be relocated to improve accessibility and visibility for commuters. The existing conditions along Landesstraße L 154 within Günselsdorf have been deemed outdated, with the road surface exhibiting cracks and depressions that require urgent attention.
Work officially commenced on September 3, with the Baden road maintenance department leading the efforts. The construction of the traffic island is the primary focus, with an expected completion date set for the end of October. Concurrently, the asphalt surface of Landesstraße L 154 will undergo renewal from the Triesting Bridge to the edge of the town. This will involve milling the existing surface, repairing sections of the asphalt base, and completely renewing the base layer from the church to the newly constructed traffic island. Following these preparations, the company Granit will carry out the final asphalt paving.
The total cost for constructing the traffic island is approximately EUR82,000, which will be funded by the municipality of Günselsdorf. The project has received approval from the Deputy Governor Udo Landbauer, allowing the NÖ Straßendienst to provide the necessary labor. The asphalt renewal project is estimated to cost around EUR165,000, with funding provided by the state of Lower Austria.
