A three-and-a-half-year-old boy was injured on Sunday afternoon in Draßmarkt, located in the Oberpullendorf district, after being bitten by a family dog. The incident was confirmed by the Landessicherheitszentrale and the Landespolizeidirektion Burgenland on Monday morning, following a report from a local newspaper.
According to police reports, the child was playing in the backyard of his home when the mixed-breed dog bit him around 3:45 PM. Emergency services were alerted, and the boy was subsequently airlifted to the AKH (Allgemeines Krankenhaus) in Vienna for treatment of injuries that were described as being of an unspecified nature.
The dog involved in the incident will undergo the mandatory veterinary examinations as part of the investigation, as stated in a release from the police on Monday. The exact circumstances surrounding the bite are still under investigation, with authorities working to gather more information.
