Vehicle Recovery Operation After Car Leaves Road and Enters Forest Near Zwettler Teufelsberg

On Sunday evening, emergency services responded to a road incident near the Teufelsberg area close to Stift Zwettl. A driver lost control of her vehicle while traveling along the L8244 roadway, resulting in the car veering off the road and coming to a stop several meters into a wooded area. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

Shortly after the accident occurred, local fire brigades were notified and mobilized for a vehicle recovery operation. Both the Zwettl-Stadt Volunteer Fire Department and the Stift Zwettl Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene to provide assistance. In total, eleven firefighters from Zwettl-Stadt, in addition to the team from Stift Zwettl, worked together throughout the evening to manage the situation safely and efficiently.

Upon arrival, the emergency crews secured the accident site to ensure the safety of both responders and passing motorists. Given the car's position within a densely wooded area, the recovery operation presented unique challenges. Accessing the vehicle required the removal of several small trees. Members of the Stift Zwettl firefighting unit utilized chainsaws to clear a path through the forest, allowing the recovery team to reach the stranded vehicle.

Once access to the car was established, the team prepared for the extraction process. Specialized equipment, including a crane mounted on a swap-body vehicle, was employed to lift the car out of the forested terrain. The use of the crane enabled the safe and controlled removal of the vehicle, minimizing further environmental impact and preventing additional damage to the car.

The coordinated efforts of the two local fire brigades ensured the operation was carried out swiftly and without incident. After the successful recovery, the area was inspected to confirm there were no residual hazards to traffic or the environment.
