The Kronach animal shelter in Bavaria is on a mission to find a loving home for Simba, a Persian cat in need of special care. Simba, described as a gentle soul with striking looks, faces numerous health challenges associated with his breed.
Born in 2018, Simba was surrendered along with four other cats due to the owner's inability to provide adequate care for them, stemming from health and financial difficulties. Upon his arrival at the shelter, Simba was in poor condition, suffering from conjunctivitis, mites, and severe grooming issues. His brachycephalic facial structure also presents respiratory difficulties due to his extremely short nose and tiny nostrils.
The shelter has taken significant steps to address Simba's health problems, including surgery to correct his eyelid condition and dental work. However, ongoing veterinary care is likely to be a necessity in his future. Additionally, Simba has been diagnosed with bladder gravel, requiring a special diet to prevent further complications, which his new owners must be committed to maintaining.
Simba's sensitive skin has led to recurrent issues that remain undiagnosed, manifesting as bouts of scratching, particularly during stressful moments. Consequently, a tranquil living environment with a consistent routine is essential for his well-being. The shelter is currently experimenting with raw food diets to see if this helps alleviate some of his skin problems.
Ideal adopters for Simba would be individuals or a couple who possess the time, patience, and understanding required to cater to his specific needs. Although Simba is not suitable for first-time cat owners, he has shown remarkable patience during vet visits, indicating he can adapt to care from dedicated individuals. While he has lived exclusively indoors, the shelter believes he may enjoy occasional outdoor access, provided it is in a secure environment such as a balcony or a small enclosed area.
The Kronach shelter acknowledges the challenges in finding a suitable home for Simba, emphasizing the importance of financial commitment due to the potential for future medical expenses. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the animal protection association in Kronach for more information on adopting Simba.
