In a remarkable achievement for Austria, Katharina Nowak has been appointed as the President of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami, marking her as the first female to hold such a position in the sport. At just 28 years old, Nowak's rise to this prominent role exemplifies her dedication and strategic acumen within the competitive landscape of motorsport.
Nowak's appointment comes as the Miami Grand Prix continues to thrive, having sold out for four consecutive years. This success can be attributed to a robust marketing strategy and meticulous planning, areas where Nowak has played a significant role since joining the organization. She initially arrived in the U.S. as a child and pursued her education in Advertising, Public Relations, and Sports Marketing at Loyola University in Chicago. Her career kicked off with the event team of the Super Bowl in 2020, after which she joined the Miami Dolphins and worked at the Hard Rock Stadium, which is located on the grounds of the Miami racetrack.
Her journey within the Formula 1 organization has seen her rapidly climb the ranks, starting as a coordinator and advancing to managerial and director roles focused on sponsorship. By 2023, she became the Director of Business Operations and was promoted to Vice President in 2024. In her new role as President, Nowak is set to oversee all operational aspects of the Miami Grand Prix, aiming to further enhance the event's appeal to fans and stakeholders alike.
In reflecting on her new responsibilities, Nowak expressed her enthusiasm for this significant career milestone. She emphasized her commitment to maintaining the high standards that have defined the Miami Grand Prix, ensuring it remains a premier event that delivers thrilling racing action and an exceptional experience for attendees.
Nowak follows in the footsteps of Emily Prazer, who leads the Formula 1 organization in Las Vegas, making her the second woman to reach such heights within the Grand Prix business. With her extensive background and proven track record, Nowak is well-positioned to contribute to the future success of Formula 1 in the United States.
