Serious Collision on A1 Motorway Leaves Two Critically Injured

A severe motor vehicle accident occurred on the A1 motorway near Altlengbach, resulting in two individuals sustaining critical injuries. The incident took place as a passenger car was traveling in the direction of Vienna and, for reasons not yet identified, veered off the roadway. The vehicle struck a guardrail at the emergency stopping bay, causing the car to rebound onto the carriageway and subsequently collide with the central concrete barrier.

The force of the impact left the vehicle extensively damaged, necessitating a large-scale emergency response. The Lower Austria emergency coordination centre dispatched multiple rescue units to the scene, including teams from the Samaritan Association Altlengbach, the Red Cross Neulengbach, the emergency medical vehicle from Lengbach, and two air ambulance helicopters. The local fire brigade was also deployed to assist with rescue operations.

Several bystanders who witnessed the crash provided immediate first aid to the two occupants of the vehicle. Among these first responders were paramedics from the Red Cross Mödling, who happened to be passing the scene and assisted with emergency care until specialized rescue teams arrived. During the rescue, it was determined that one individual was trapped inside the vehicle and required extrication using hydraulic rescue equipment provided by the fire brigade.

After receiving on-site medical attention from emergency doctors, both injured individuals were stabilized and airlifted to hospitals in the surrounding area for further treatment. The precise nature of their injuries has not been disclosed, but both were reported to be in a serious condition upon transport.

In order to facilitate the rescue and recovery efforts, sections of the A1 motorway were temporarily closed, causing traffic congestion and significant delays for motorists traveling through the area. The fire brigade managed the recovery and removal of the damaged vehicle, ensuring that the roadway could be safely reopened once the operation was complete.
