Munich reached #1 place for local traffic in a European study among 23 other candidates.  The Europe-ADAC study rates the MVV as "very good" for speed and information, but the tickets are too expensive.

Passengers especially liked the fast pace with which buses and trains traverse the city, the comfort levels and the range of information, especially on the Internet. They were less satisfied with the fares that compared to other European cities were simply too high. A single town trip costs 2.40 euros in Munich. In Amsterdam and Rome a similar ticket can be purchased for one euro. Another drawback: MVV tickets are not available over the Internet or by phone. Other top ten leaders beside Munich are Hamburg, Frankfurt, Leipzig and Cologne.
