Munich. Parts of the city were left without electricity on Tuesday afternoon. The lights went off in many large department stores. A fault in the substation at Hotterstraße caused nearly a 15 minutes power outage in parts of the city center. According to tz, about 5000 households between Stachus, Sonnenstraße, Maximiliansstraße, Neuhauser Straße and Dom were affected from 13.09 until 13.23. Then the utilities company had to switch on a replacement connection, which went smoothly.

Among other places, Karstadt Sporthaus at Stachus and the police directorate in Ettstrasse were affected. "The computers were working from an emergency power supply," said police spokesman Stefan Sonntag. The traffic control center and operations center were not affected because they also have emergency disposal units.
