About Siebenhütten

Welcome to Siebenhütten – a beautiful natural paradise located just behind Wildbad Kreuth, featuring well-known destinations such as the Herzogliche Fischzucht, Königsalm, Geißalm, and Wolfsschlucht. Siebenhütten is an ideal excursion destination for families, easily accessible and beautifully situated by the Hofbauernweißach. Hikers and cyclists can find numerous lovely resting spots along the way. The area became Wittelsbach property in 1817 and has remained so ever since. Originally, seven alpine huts were operated by seven farmers from Kreuth/Pförn, which gradually disappeared. The Wittelsbach family, under King Max Joseph of Bavaria, developed Bad Kreuth into a royal health resort, requiring goat whey for healing and beauty baths, leading to the maintenance of up to 500 goats at Siebenhütten. Only three huts remain from the original seven, with two used as storage and one as a snack station. In 2015, an old grain storage building was reconstructed, adhering to traditional craftsmanship. The surrounding environment is wild and original, with lovingly maintained shingle-roofed huts and traditional fences. The local snacks are adapted to the region, featuring cheese from the Naturkäserei TegernseerLand eG and beer from the Herzogliches Brauhaus Tegernsee. Siebenhütten is closed in winter due to dangerous avalanche slopes and path closures. Opening hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with Fridays as a rest day from April/May to October, and closed from Kirchweih (mid-October) to April/May depending on snow conditions.
