Welcome to our wine restaurant in the heart of Heidelberg's old town, where you can enjoy the unique atmosphere at the historic workbenches of the former cooperage. Since the founding of the cooperage and wine shop Herrmann in 1882, it has become customary for craftsmen from nearby businesses to stop by and taste the latest Palatinate wines while sitting on barrels. The name Schnitzelbank comes from the special workbench used to process barrel staves. Since the renovation of the house in 1992, the wine tavern has been run by the Schuster family (formerly Thiemann). Our kitchen offers regional, freshly prepared dishes for every taste and occasion, including hearty Palatinate Saumagen, homemade liver dumplings, our famous crispy schnitzel, delicious salads, and homemade cheese spaetzle (not just) for vegetarians. Our wines come from selected winemakers in the region, and we pay close attention to quality, recommending our Baden Riesling on tap.
