About Purtschellerhaus

Purtschellerhaus is located on the 'Eckerfirst', a ridge-like northern foothill of the Hohen Göll (2522 m above sea level), which transitions over the Eckersattel (1413 m) to the Ahornbüchsenkopf (1604 m). It is situated above the valley basin of Berchtesgaden (northwest) and the Salzach valley (east). The building is divided into two parts, with the western section belonging to Germany and the eastern part located in the municipality of Kuchl in Austria. This mountain hut is a popular destination for hikers and day visitors who can enjoy a wide view. It also serves as an important base for experienced climbers ascending the Hohen Göll via the normal route. The hut is operated continuously from mid-May to mid-October, with weather-dependent changes possible. Reservations are required for overnight stays, and the hut has a strict quiet policy after 10 PM.
