Welcome to our newly renovated dining rooms where we offer you Swabian specialties, regional game dishes, and classics of good traditional German cuisine. Our inn has been run by the same family for five generations since 1893. Previously known as 'Gasthaus Zum Kreuz' until December 2019, we have been known as 'Platzwirt' since January 2020. We are a rural inn located in the Ostalbkreis, near the Bavarian border. Unterschneidheim lies in the valley of the Schneidheimer Sechta, about 20 km east of Ellwangen, at the edge of the Nördlinger Ries. Our kitchen delights you with traditional Swabian dishes, and we also welcome travel groups by appointment. We place great value on a traditional regulars' table where news is exchanged and a bit of politics is discussed.
