About Ostra-Areal Forum | Capitol

Two unique halls - endless possibilitiesThe Viehhof as part of the Municipal Livestock and Slaughterhouse in Dresden, the ensemble of which was built under the direction of the architect and head of the Court Construction Office Hans Erlwein in the years 1906 to 1910, originally served as a marketplace for the livestock markets that were held regularly until 1945, during which slaughter animals were appraised and traded. The complex included two market halls for cattle and another hall for pigs and calves. Both market halls were extensively renovated between 2007 and 2010 and have since been used as event venues under the names Erlwein Capitol and Erlwein Forum. These two generously proportioned halls meet the current standards of a modularly changing trade fair and event industry. Both halls are harmoniously integrated into the overall Ostra area of the Erlwein buildings on Ostragehege Island just a few minutes' walk from the city center. This peninsula is embedded between the Elbe and the Alberthafen and impresses with its old tree population of the Ostra-Allee.
