About Lucy

Welcome to 'Lucy', the Ethiopian restaurant in the heart of Nuremberg. Our restaurant 'Lucy' is named after the oldest known skeleton of our ancestors, discovered in northern Ethiopia in 1974. This skeleton is over 3.2 million years old and shows that humanity spread from Ethiopia to other parts of the world. Scientists named this woman 'Lucy' because they often listened to the Beatles song 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' during their work on-site. As Lucy's descendants spread across the globe, they forgot to take with them the diverse Ethiopian cuisine! We have now made up for that with the restaurant 'Lucy', albeit a bit late. The restaurant 'Lucy' offers traditional Ethiopian dishes in various variations. Meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegans will all find something to enjoy. You are guaranteed to leave with a beautiful memory and hopefully be thrilled by the various taste experiences. Not only do the diverse dishes and drinks transport you mentally to Ethiopia, but so does the interior design and music. The cozy designed premises of the restaurant can accommodate about 90 people. In good weather, you can also enjoy our small beer garden outside. Lucy offers its guests a personal and unforgettable 'small Ethiopian coffee ceremony' upon request. The restaurant 'Lucy' was first opened in the autumn of 2017. The current host, Genet Yemane, who has been delighting many in the greater Nuremberg area with her cooking skills for over 20 years, turned her hobby into a business idea and took over 'Lucy' in September 2019. We look forward to your visit and wish you a good appetite!
