Kafe Kult – putting Munich back on the map since 1999. Founded from the ruins of the Old Culture Station, Kafe Kult started as a weekly Sunday regular and transformed into an international DIY hub just before the turn of the millennium. We see ourselves as a non-commercial place far from the sterile Munich social scene and polished pop culture. The DIY punk ethos of the 1980s fuels our engines, which have no tolerance for racist, fascist, sexist, or homophobic nonsense. We operate Kafe Kult on a voluntary basis, only opening for concerts that align with our beliefs and interests. Our beloved Kafe Kult can also be rented for events, as we need to cover our operating costs while ensuring that concert revenues primarily benefit the bands. In addition to concerts, we also host the Kafe Kunst Fest to provide a platform for our friends running DIY fashion labels, bookstores, or wig businesses to escape the commercial market. Punk is our common denominator, not the mindless 'anything-goes-punk' but the good, reflective punk that has always been more MC5 or Patti Smith than Sex Pistols and GG Allin.
