FILUM – The Music School Filderstadt is a municipal educational institution for children, teenagers, and adults. It is a member of the Association of German Music Schools. Currently, around 4,000 children, teenagers, and adults are taught by 70 teachers. In addition to instrumental and vocal lessons, there is the opportunity to participate in one of the numerous music school ensembles, such as the youth symphony orchestra. The number of collaborations with local kindergartens, schools, nursing homes, and churches is steadily increasing. With its diverse offerings, the Music School Filderstadt is a center for musical education with a regional impact. The FILUM has been located in a newly built facility since November 2016, thanks to generous financial support from the Karl Schlecht Foundation.
