About Globe Theater Berlin

Since 2019, the Globe Berlin in Charlottenburg has been a venue for genuine folk theater in a unique outdoor setting from June to September. The consciously low-threshold offering is aimed at people of all ages from different cultural backgrounds and is close to current social issues. The program spectrum includes drama, word art, and live music, with Shakespeare performances in German and English in contemporary translations, as well as introductions and discussions - all at moderate ticket prices. The approximately 1700 square meter site near the Spree will soon see the modification and continued use of a previously successful theater building from Schwäbisch Hall, along with a multifunctional extension as a workshop stage, foyer, and gastronomy, making it usable year-round and sustainably. The reconstruction of Shakespeare's legendary folk theater arena will be 14.5 meters high, 26 meters in diameter, and will accommodate approximately 690 visitors across three levels. Until the (re)construction begins, the disassembled theater is stored at the future site, with numerous wooden components forming a circular walkway where the audience sits in the midst of the action, influenced by the surrounding nature, weather, and urban environment.
