The first Ulm Kasperle Theater was founded on December 1, 2001, by Sabine Dröll and Heike Gruber. Both are professional actresses and directors. In 2007, an independent jury commissioned by the city of Ulm certified the Kasperle Theater as 'absolutely worth preserving' and also stated that it provides an important access to children's theater for all sections of the population as a low-threshold cultural offering.
