About die Küche - Mona John

Hello, I'm Mona. Originally from Munich, but a bit French at heart. I always wanted to be a chef! Where better to learn about culinary arts and enjoyment than in France? I ended up in western France, on the Atlantic coast. In Nantes, which was the capital of Brittany until the mid-20th century, I learned to cook with a lot of butter (a Breton habit) and love (a fact throughout France). After that, I worked in Paris, where I believe the most innovative restaurants in France are located. However, my dream was to open my own restaurant. Therefore, I looked beyond the cooking pot and returned to my hometown for a business degree. During the pandemic, I started the concept 'Cooking for Neighbors' and am now opening my own restaurant 'Coup de Coeur' on Westendstr. My love continues to lie in many ways with beautiful France, French cooking, and the 'Art de vivre', the art of living enjoyably. Coup de Coeur is a French expression meaning 'to have a spontaneous enthusiasm for something' or 'to really like something'. This can refer to a dish, a new favorite place, or a person. In my dishes, I often have a Coup de Coeur for a particular product; I find it exciting what can be done with simple ingredients, how versatile they can be prepared, and what flavor explosions can be created. When I found this place on Westendstraße 29, I immediately had a Coup de Coeur for it. So it was natural that I wanted to share my enthusiasm for cooking with my guests under this name. It should be a place where my guests feel comfortable, and perhaps my dishes can help you find a new favorite place.
