About Alte Mühle Burgberg

The sound of a watermill evokes pure romance. Its sound transports visitors of the Alte Mühle, built in 1344 in Giengen-Burgberg, back to the Middle Ages. The charming building, located between a rushing stream and a quiet forest, appears fairy-tale-like. It becomes unforgettable when the impressive waterwheel begins to turn, demonstrating the operation and grinding process of an old German mill. Guided tours through the museum-transformed monument immerse visitors in the era of traditional craftsmanship. The lovingly furnished rooms contain many interesting exhibits about life and work in past times. A permanent exhibition on the attic showcases genuine rarities, such as handcrafted items from various guilds or original wedding dresses from over 100 years ago. As a crowning touch to this journey through time, a culinary experience awaits – the freshly restored Mühlenstadel, which completes the offerings of the Alte Mühle. Visitors are not only treated to Swabian hospitality and culinary delights in a historic setting but can also look forward to a colorful cultural program with seasonal highlights, exhibitions, local artists, or performances of choice, as the 128-person capacity rooms are also ideal for individual events.
