According to information from the regional warning center, more than 180 firefighters--including both men and women--were deployed between 12:30 and 14:45 to manage weather-related incidents. Significant transportation challenges arose on the Tauernautobahn, a vital motorway connecting northern and southern Salzburg. A power outage led to the closure of five tunnels between Golling and Werfen in both directions. Initial reports suggested a lightning strike may have been responsible for the electrical failure between 13:30 and 14:00. However, this information was not confirmed by the motorway operator, Asfinag, when contacted for clarification. The tunnel closures resulted in considerable traffic congestion, with delays of up to two kilometers towards Salzburg and five kilometers in the direction of Villach. Emergency crews monitored the situation and managed the flow of vehicles while electrical engineers worked to restore power and reopen the affected tunnels as quickly as possible.
