Mon 14th Apr, 2025

In an exciting development for space tourism, pop sensation Katy Perry is set to take a brief trip into outer space aboard a rocket designed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The highly anticipated launch is scheduled for Monday afternoon, and Perry has expressed her enthusiasm for the experience, indicating her plans to sing during the flight. She shared her excitement on social media, reflecting on a 15-year dream to journey into space that is about to become a reality.

Perry will be joined by a notable crew, including Lauren Sánchez, Bezos' partner, renowned television host Gayle King, and accomplished scientists Aisha Bowe and Amanda Nguyen, along with entrepreneur Kerianne Flynn. The mission will take place on Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket, which is capable of automated flight and is set to ascend to an altitude of approximately 100 kilometers, providing a brief moment of weightlessness for those on board.

Lauren Sánchez has played a pivotal role in the mission, having designed the sleek and stylish space suits that the crew will wear, in collaboration with the New York fashion brand Monse. She described the suits as not only elegant but also providing a touch of flair for the cosmic voyage.

This journey marks the continuation of Blue Origin's efforts to make space travel accessible to tourists. To date, the company has successfully completed ten missions, with a total of 52 individuals having flown to the edge of space since its inception. The first flight in 2021 notably included Jeff Bezos himself as a passenger.

The crew's upcoming venture highlights the growing interest in commercial space travel and the potential for more public figures to participate in such extraordinary experiences. As the launch approaches, anticipation builds not only for Perry's musical interlude in space but also for the future of space tourism as an emerging industry.
