Wed 19th Mar, 2025

A significant traffic disruption occurred on the B1 highway in Purkersdorf when a passenger vehicle left a large oil spill in front of the local fire station. To address the hazardous situation, one lane of the B1 was temporarily closed while emergency services worked to mitigate the spill.

Firefighters promptly responded to the scene, employing oil absorbent materials to contain the spill effectively. To ensure the safety of both the responders and the public, three traffic controllers from the fire department were deployed to manage the heavy afternoon traffic, guiding vehicles through the area using a single lane. The police also assisted in regulating the high volume of traffic, ensuring that the disruption was handled efficiently.

Once the oil absorbent was applied and the initial containment measures were completed, the road was thoroughly cleaned. Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of the emergency services, the B1 was reopened to traffic shortly thereafter, allowing for a return to normalcy on this busy route.
