A recent drone strike by Russian forces in Kyiv has resulted in the tragic deaths of three individuals, including a five-year-old child, according to military administrator Timur Tkatchenko. The attack, which also left ten others injured, involved an eleven-month-old infant among the casualties. Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, along with Tkatchenko, reported multiple explosions throughout the city, with several high-rise buildings sustaining damage and igniting fires in their upper levels.

The air raid alert in Kyiv lasted over five hours overnight, highlighting an escalation in Russian attacks on civilian targets across Ukraine. This surge in aggression comes just ahead of new discussions among the warring parties regarding a potential path to peace. Despite Moscow's earlier commitment to pause strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure following talks with US President Donald Trump, the Russian military has intensified its focus on residential areas.

On the evening prior to the Kyiv strike, Russian forces launched several swarms of drones targeting various locations throughout Ukraine. Concurrently, guided glide bombs were deployed, with the Saporizhzhia region reportedly hit by four of these munitions, leading to fires and power outages in multiple villages. Local military officials indicated that debris from the strikes damaged several private homes.

In a separate incident in the Rostov region of southern Russia, a drone strike resulted in the death of one individual whose vehicle was set ablaze. Governor Yuri Slyusar reported this incident via social media, confirming the fatality.

Additionally, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defense units managed to intercept 59 Ukrainian drones during the same night. Of these, 29 drones were shot down over Rostov, while others were downed over regions including Astrakhan, Voronezh, Volgograd, Kursk, Saratov, and Crimea.
